Hi there! My name is Joe Hutsko, and I’m a longtime technology thinker and writer. In the early 80s I picked strawberries to buy my first Apple ][, was hired by Apple in 1984 as an MIS Analyst…and quickly wound up working as Technology Advisor to (then) Chairman and CEO, John Sculley. I left Apple in 1988 to work off and on at Steve Jobs’ company, NeXT, then left to become a writer and consultant.

I’ve worked for or consulted to a number of companies between 1988 and now, including, Apple’s software spinout Claris, A.C. Nielsen, GameSpot.com, and others.

Things I’ve written:

I’ve authored and co-authored several books, including iPhone For Dummies All-in-One, Macs For Dummies All-in-One, Green Gadgets For Dummies, and The Deal: A Novel of Silicon Valley. A couple of my video game books include Donkey Kong Country Unauthorized, and Star Wars Rebel Assault: The Insider’s Guide.

I’ve written for numerous publications and outlets, including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Wired, Time, Newsweek, Popular Science, TV Guide, Macworld, PC World, CNET, MSNBC, Salon, Engadget, Techcrunch and others.
